Maggie, the owner, can be biased and rude to Western women
Food is greater, the bad playing in the evening is even greater 😁 They were kind enough to even let me sing one song while they played 🤣 The place was so nice I came back in the morning for breakfast 🤣🤣🤣
I got a Pim's cocktail that was pretty good. So this place might be fine for a drink. The food, however, was not fine. It was incredibly bland and tasteless (and this is coming from someone who loves British food). My girlfriend got the "Sunday Roast" with lamb that had the consistency of dog food and Yorkshire puddings that were like chewing on cardboard. They even screwed up mashed potatoes, which I didn't even know was possible. I got the chicken meat pie that had mushrooms like rubber and chicken that was somehow dry despite being soaked in gravy. By far the worst western food I've ever had in China, and that is saying a lot (I've been here 3+ years). Because of this place, my girlfriend and I have a new rule to never eat British food in mainland China ever again. Avoid this place's food at all costs, unless you like eating unsalted cardboard. The picture makes it look ok. It wasn't.
We needed a place to have lunch and a drink and walked past this restaurant on a previous visit. It wasn't very busy at the time and our service was quick and friendly. They could converse in English as many foreigners frequent this pub. We ordered fish and chips and chicken schnitzel, Guinness and cola. Pricing was reasonable total was just over 586RMB for 4 people. The food was delicious and the environment very relaxed with good music.
You will see I have reviewed this place in the past a number of times, usually very good although my last review was actually pretty scathing. Fast forward over 3 years due to COVID and this is the first time I have been back since 2019, visiting in it's new location on the edge of Seaworld And I am happy to say that it is back to it's best and had a thoroughly enjoyable evening there with family and friends. Food was also enjoyable, a good selection being available. Will certainly be back a few times whilst I am staying in Shekou! Recommended!
