Simple atmosphere with limited seating, this nostalgic Shanghai eatery is true to its taste. Food is just amazing and very tasty. Be prepared to wait a bit for your table but it’s worthwhile. Service is efficient.
Old famous Shanghainese restaurant that now has become too touristy, most of the guests were tourists. The foods were good but not better or different than other good Shanghainese restaurants. The restaurant is very small and the tables were too close to each other, very basic decor … not a pleasant experience.
This restaurant is the local favorite in a historic building! Everyone comes here for a special night out and it is easy to see why. The service is solid and attentive even the host station (which often lacks the necessary expertise). The appetizers were stunning - my favorite dish was the fried green tomatoes! The BBQ shrimp had a kick and were nice and large gulf shrimp. The shrimp and grits could use a little more spice - maybe have a spice continuum with mild to spicy? Overall I liked shrimp and grits better from Beachwalk in Destin, FL. Prices were decent given that dining was elevated but seems like having bread or biscuits complimentary with the table makes sense or would be at least a nice touch. Bread was $7 on appetizer menu. We ordered a bottle of wine and appreciated the selection on the wine list. Expanding healthy choices would improve my rating as there are plenty of Southern restaurants even farm to table ones across the country but not many that leave you feeling good. For that reason I prefer the Hope Farm in Fairhope overall for a nice meal at lunch or dinner in the area. It should also be noted that Magnolia Springs is rural Alabama in the middle of nowhere. It is worth the drive but I'd go for lunch next time.
not worth what I expected. This place was recommended by a friend that thought it was a good place to conduct business that was not in a "chain" restaurant. Once we started talking business, we "exceeded" what they thought was reasonable and then were given "hints" that our welcome had worn out. I was so ticked off that (did ) leave a tip, but not the 18% minimum that was suggested. I would not recommend this place. The "charm" that it tries to promote does not exist
