Had a date at Jiang by Chef Fei, which sees them maintained their 2 stars Michelin for 6 years consecutively including 2024 to savor Cantonese cuisines.Stylish modern contemporary design overall it gives you a sophisticated & chill ambience. Service is a bit disappointed as expected communication in English especially at Mandarin Oriental. Nevertheless only 1 staff was rely upon😅. Food hits and misses. Outstanding dish here Roasted Wengchiang chicken, flaxseeds which is crispy, juicy.
I had a family dinner here on our last evening (16 Dec) at Guangzhou before flying back home. We wanted to end the trip on a high note with a nice dinner. The food was really good and at totally different level particularly the roast goose, roast pork and char siew. They were so so good that we repeat the order for the roast pork and char siew. Besides the food, I want to do shout-out on the excellent service by the staff. We were first hosted by a English-speaking manager and a particularly attentive young lady (a pity we didn't get her name) who took very good care of us the whole evening. The ambience in the room also added to the marvellous experience we had. The trip definitely ended on a high note with this meal.
My lunch takes me to savor Cantonese cuisines at Jiang by Chef Fei, which sees them maintained their 2 stars Michelin for 6 years consecutively including 2024. Stylish modern contemporary design overall it gives you a sophisticated & chill ambience. Service is a bit on the downside. Expecting more creativity and flavors from a 2star Michelin. Food hits and misses. Outstanding dish is the Roasted Wengchiang chicken, flaxseeds which is crispy, juicy.
We do have high expectations from a 2 star Michelin restaurant, not just in terms of food, but also service. Our food selections…. Roasted wenchang chicken with flaxseeds…..crispy skin. Tasty chicken. Steamed sole fish with bean paste, seasonal…..nicely done. Braised homemade egg tofu with shimeiji mushroom, abalone sauce…..delightful egg tofu Fried rice with beef, preserved turnips…..flavourful and delicious. Overall, food is satisfactory. But service is far below expectations. We have to request that our plates be changed. Tea service is also a huge disappointment. Our tea turned cold quickly in the glass pot as there was no cover or tea warmer. We had to request that hot water be added to warm up the tea. And the reply they gave is that the tea presentation has to look nice at the expense of keeping the tea warm! In the end, one of the staff offered to reheat our tea by pouring the lot into an electric kettle and reboiling it. I think the restaurant could do so much better in this small area. Our dining experiences at Lai Heen and Bing Sheng Private Kitchen have been much more enjoyable.
