After reading some great reviews, I couldn't resist checking out this place on my recent trip to Santiago. Situated in the lively Barrio Italia, Silvestre occupies a lovely and traditional Chilean house. With a brief and straightforward menu - my preference - I wasn't particularly excited about the food options. However, you never know, sometimes simplicity pays off. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case here. The food was decent, drinks were fine, but the standout element was definitely the relaxed atmosphere of the inner garden - a rare gem.
I was very impressed by the ambience, attentiveness of our server, and vegetarian options! The interior patio is peaceful and a lovely place to relax away from the busy streets of barrio Italia. The menu is very brief but carefully curated and offers something for a variety of dietary needs. I am vegetarian and ordered the vegan baba ganoush (some of the best I have ever had!!) and falafel. My fiancé is pescatarian and LOVED the tuna and shrimp plate. The servers were so kind and attentive!
After reading a few glowing reviews, I decided to check out this spot during my recent visit to Santiago. Located in the heart of Barrio Italia, one of the city's hippest neighbourhoods, Silvestre offers a cool setting within a traditional Chilean house. With a short and sweet menu—my kind of thing—I didn't find myself too excited by the options. But you know how it goes, sometimes simple surprises can be delicious. Unfortunately, that wasn't quite the case here. The food was alright, drinks were decent, but the real winner was the chill vibe of the inner garden—a rare find. It's worth noting that while Silvestre offers a unique setting, there are other restaurants in the neighbourhood that also offer a similar atmosphere, but with better food.
We had read good reviews of this place. The lamb I would miss, it was old, just warm and clearly cooked days ago. Disappointing...
