Viña Cousiño Macul is one of Chile's oldest and most prestigious wineries, located in the heart of Santiago's Maipo Valley. Established in 1856, it is the only winery in the region that remains family-owned and operates from its original estate. The winery is renowned for its Cabernet Sauvignon, Carménère, and other Bordeaux-style blends, grown in the unique terroir of the Maipo Valley. Visitors can explore the historic cellars, stroll through the vineyards, and learn about the winemaking process from grape to bottle. The guided tours are informative and engaging, often led by knowledgeable sommeliers who share insights into the family's legacy and the art of wine production. Tastings are held in a charming colonial-style building, where you can sample award-winning wines paired with local cheeses. What makes Cousiño Macul distinctive is its blend of tradition and innovation – while respecting century-old methods, they also employ modern techniques to produce wines of exceptional quality.
