Horseshoe Falls is the most powerful waterfall in North America, carrying about 90% of the Niagara River's flow. Named for its curved, 2,700-foot-wide crest, it plunges 188 feet into the Niagara Gorge. Visitors can view the falls from Queen Victoria Park or take the Journey Behind the Falls tour, which leads through tunnels to observation decks behind the cascading water. The constant mist and thunderous roar create an immersive experience, especially at night when the falls are illuminated. In winter, the mist freezes into icy sculptures along the brink.

Don't miss

  • Journey Behind the Falls: walk through tunnels to portals directly behind the falling water
  • Nightly illumination: colored lights transform the falls after sunset
  • Niagara Falls Fireworks: summer fireworks display over the falls
