Trapezitsa is a historically significant fortified hill in Veliko Tarnovo, known for its ruins of 17 medieval churches and defensive towers. Unlike Tsarevets, Trapezitsa is less reconstructed, giving visitors a more rugged, archaeological experience. The hill offers sweeping views of the Yantra River and the old town. It was a key administrative and religious center in the Second Bulgarian Empire, and ongoing excavations continue to reveal its past. Visitors can walk among the foundations and imagine the medieval city that once thrived here.
Don't miss
