Hamatyo in São Paulo, Brazil, is a hidden gem for sushi lovers seeking an authentic Japanese dining experience. With a cozy setting that accommodates fewer than 20 guests, this intimate restaurant is often compared to a sushi speakeasy, making reservations essential. Diners rave about the superb selection of the freshest fish, prepared in traditional Japanese style, without the gimmicks often found in other sushi spots. The attentive service adds to the charm, creating a dining atmosphere that feels both personal and exceptional. Whether you're a couple looking for a romantic dinner or a solo traveler on a culinary journey, Hamatyo promises an unforgettable meal.

It’s so good I’m almost reluctant to tell the world. But they deserve to be enjoyed by sushi lovers! Truly a superb selection of the freshest fish in the traditional style expertly prepared and the service faultless. A Gem of São Paulo ♥️and absolutely top Japanese authentic food experience. What a treat! My husband David will also review and post photos shortly.
Revised review… First, you must make a reservation for the restaurant because seating is limited. Now onto my review. It was like taking a trip to Japan because the sushi is made in traditional Japanese way - that even the few Japanese restaurants in the USA don’t do. In the sushi of this restaurant, there is… No cream cheese. No Doritos. No Nutella. No skittles candies. No fruits like strawberries and kiwis. In other words, it’s authentic sushi - the real deal. I highly recommend this restaurant.
