The Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel (Igreja de Nossa Senhora do Carmo) stands as a prime example of Rococo architecture in Ouro Preto. Designed by Manuel Francisco Lisboa, the father of the famed sculptor Aleijadinho, its facade is adorned with elegant curves and detailed stonework. Inside, visitors can admire gilded altars, religious paintings, and a peaceful atmosphere. The church's construction began in 1766 and was completed in the early 19th century, reflecting the transition from Baroque to Rococo styles in colonial Brazil.
