The Pampulha Modern Ensemble is a groundbreaking architectural complex designed by Oscar Niemeyer in the 1940s, centered around an artificial lake. Visitors can explore a collection of buildings that exemplify the bold curves and innovative use of concrete characteristic of Brazilian modernism. The site includes the Church of Saint Francis of Assisi, the Pampulha Art Museum (formerly a casino), the Casa do Baile, and the Iate Tênis Clube, all set within landscaped gardens by Roberto Burle Marx. The ensemble is celebrated for its harmonious integration of architecture, art, and nature, and was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2016.
