The Museum of Sarajevo 1878–1918 is housed in the very building where Gavrilo Princip fired the shots that killed Archduke Franz Ferdinand, an event that sparked World War I. Visitors can see the preserved corner of the building, period rooms, and artifacts from the Austro-Hungarian era, including military uniforms, photographs, and the car used by the Archduke. The museum provides a detailed look at Sarajevo's transformation under Habsburg rule and the political tensions leading to the assassination.
Don't miss
- The exact spot of the assassination, marked on the building's exterior
- The original car used by Archduke Franz Ferdinand during his visit
- A collection of Austro-Hungarian-era weapons and uniforms
