Vooruit is more than a venue, it's a Ghent institution. Built as a 'People's House' for the socialist cooperative movement, its grand Art Deco facade and ornate interior still echo with the ideals of community and culture. Today, it hosts an eclectic program of concerts (from indie rock to classical), theatre, dance, film, and festivals like the Ghent Film Festival. The main hall, with its sweeping balcony and original chandeliers, offers superb acoustics. Beyond events, you can visit the café-bar for a drink, explore the foyer's exhibitions, or take a guided tour to learn about its history. The building's blend of political heritage and contemporary arts makes it a unique cultural hub.
