Vooruit is more than a venue, it's a Ghent institution. Built as a 'People's House' for the socialist cooperative movement, its grand Art Deco facade and ornate interior still echo with the ideals of community and culture. Today, it hosts an eclectic program of concerts (from indie rock to classical), theatre, dance, film, and festivals like the Ghent Film Festival. The main hall, with its sweeping balcony and original chandeliers, offers superb acoustics. Beyond events, you can visit the café-bar for a drink, explore the foyer's exhibitions, or take a guided tour to learn about its history. The building's blend of political heritage and contemporary arts makes it a unique cultural hub.

Don't miss

  • The main concert hall's Art Deco architecture, including stained-glass windows and murals
  • Catching a live performance, acoustics are praised by musicians
  • The lively café-bar, a popular meeting spot for locals and visitors
  • Guided tours that reveal the building's socialist history and architectural details
  • The annual Ghent Film Festival held here each October
