Graslei is one of Ghent's most iconic and photographed spots, a historic quay along the River Lys that once served as a bustling port for the city's medieval trade. Today, it's a pedestrian-friendly area where visitors can admire the stunning architecture of the guild houses, which represent different trades such as grain measurers, free boatmen, and masons. The quay is lined with cafes and restaurants, making it a perfect place to sit and watch the world go by. The view across the river to Korenlei is particularly picturesque, with the Castle of Gerald the Devil and the Belfry of Ghent visible in the background. The area is especially charming at sunset when the buildings are illuminated.
