The Gileppe Dam is a monumental stone dam built in the 19th century to supply water to the region. Standing 70 meters high and stretching 235 meters across, it was one of the largest dams in Europe at the time of its completion. Today, it serves as both a functional reservoir and a popular tourist attraction. Visitors can walk along the dam crest, take in panoramic views of the lake and surrounding forests, and visit the on-site visitor center which features exhibits on the dam's construction and local ecology. The most iconic landmark is the 13-meter-tall stone lion statue, symbolizing the dam's strength and the region's identity. The area offers ample parking, picnic spots, and trails for hiking and cycling.
