Palace of Justice, Brussels

The Palace of Justice (Palais de Justice) is an enormous neoclassical courthouse dominating the Brussels skyline from its hilltop position in the Marollen district. Built between 1866 and 1883, it was at the time the largest building constructed in the 19th century. The structure is characterized by its colossal dome, which rises over 100 meters and offers panoramic views of the city. Inside, the building features grand halls, marble staircases, and courtrooms. The sheer scale is overwhelming, it covers an area larger than St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. Visitors can explore the public areas, including the main hall and the dome (when open). The surrounding neighborhood is vibrant, with flea markets and cafes. The building's hilltop location also provides excellent photo opportunities of Brussels' rooftops.
