Bu Maher Fort stands on the northern coast of Muharraq, dating back to the 19th century when it guarded the entrance to the pearling harbor. Its thick coral stone walls and round towers are typical of Bahrain's coastal fortifications. Visitors can climb the ramparts for panoramic views of the Arabian Gulf and nearby islands, including the Bahrain Bay skyline. The fort also serves as a gateway to the Bahrain Pearling Trail, as it overlooks the historic oyster beds. Inside, a small museum displays artifacts from the pearling era, and the site often hosts cultural events.

Don't miss

  • Climb the fort's ramparts for unobstructed views of the sea and the pearling oyster beds at low tide.
  • Explore the small museum inside the fort, which features pearl diving equipment and maritime artifacts.
