The Goldenes Dachl, or Golden Roof, is a stunning late Gothic oriel window built into the balcony of the Neuhaus Palace in Innsbruck's old town. Its roof is covered with 2,657 fire-gilded copper tiles that shimmer in the sunlight. Commissioned by Emperor Maximilian I, the balcony was used as a royal box to watch tournaments and festivals in the square below. Today, it is a symbol of Innsbruck and a popular photo spot. The building houses a museum dedicated to the life of Maximilian I and the history of the Golden Roof, with exhibits on the construction and the emperor's reign. Visitors can climb to the balcony for a closer look at the tiles and enjoy views of the surrounding medieval buildings.
