Cumberland Castle (Schloss Cumberland) is a striking neo-Gothic castle located on the eastern shore of Lake Traunsee, just south of Gmunden. Built in the late 19th century, it was originally a residence for the exiled King George V of Hanover. Today, the castle operates as a luxury hotel and event venue, offering guests a chance to stay in a historic setting with panoramic lake views. The castle's architecture features turrets, battlements, and ornate details, surrounded by a large park. While the interior is primarily for hotel guests, the exterior and grounds are accessible to visitors, providing excellent photo opportunities and a glimpse into aristocratic life. The castle's lakeside location makes it a popular spot for weddings and conferences.
