Silvretta Reservoir is a striking man-made lake set high in the Silvretta Alps near Galtür. Created to support hydroelectric power generation, its deep blue waters contrast dramatically with the rugged mountain peaks and rocky shores. Visitors can explore a network of well-marked hiking trails that loop around the reservoir, offering panoramic views of the surrounding glaciers and alpine meadows. The area is particularly popular for leisurely walks, photography, and picnicking in summer. In winter, the frozen landscape attracts snowshoers and winter hikers. The reservoir's remote yet accessible location makes it a serene escape into nature, with the sound of water and wind dominating the quiet atmosphere.
Don't miss
- Walk the full loop trail around the reservoir for changing perspectives
- Photograph the turquoise water against the Silvretta peaks
- Spot marmots and alpine flowers along the shore
