Hoher Kasten is a 1,795-meter peak in the Appenzell Alps, easily accessible from the village of Brülisau via a modern cable car. The ride itself is an experience, offering ever-expanding views as you ascend. At the top, a spacious viewing platform and a revolving restaurant provide panoramic vistas of the Alpstein massif, Lake Constance, and on clear days, the Swiss and Austrian Alps. The summit area is family-friendly, with short nature trails, a playground, and an alpine flower garden. For more adventurous visitors, there are longer hikes along the ridge to nearby peaks like the Säntis. What makes Hoher Kasten distinctive is its combination of easy accessibility and dramatic scenery; it's a perfect spot for those who want high-altitude views without a strenuous climb. The restaurant's rotating floor ensures you can enjoy the full 360-degree panorama while dining.
