The Capital Theatre is a beautifully restored Edwardian-era building that serves as Bendigo's premier performing arts venue. Originally opened in 1874 as a opera house, it was later converted into a cinema and then fully renovated in the 1990s to its current glory. The interior features ornate plasterwork, a grand foyer, and a 1,000-seat auditorium with excellent acoustics. Today, it hosts a diverse program of live theatre, musical performances, comedy shows, and film screenings, including classic movies and contemporary releases. The theatre's intimate atmosphere and historic charm make every event special. Visitors can also admire the building's architecture during a performance or by joining a guided tour when available.
