Our Lady of Meritxell is Andorra's national sanctuary, a modern basilica rebuilt after a fire in 1972. The church's contemporary design, with its angular stone walls and large stained-glass windows, contrasts with the traditional Romanesque statue of the Virgin of Meritxell housed inside. Visitors come to admire the serene interior, the outdoor esplanade with views of the surrounding mountains, and the adjacent small museum explaining the legend of the saint. It's a place of pilgrimage and quiet reflection, deeply tied to Andorran identity.
