Temple of Debod

• The reassembled gateways are placed in a different order than at the original site; compare with historical photos.

历史一瞥

Construction began in the early 2nd century BC by Kushite king Adikhalamani as a small chapel to the god Amun. It was later expanded under Ptolemy VI, VIII, and XII, and completed by Roman emperors Augustus and Tiberius. The temple was dedicated to Isis of Philae. It was dismantled and rebuilt in Madrid between 1970 and 1972.
