Bach Ma Temple

Bach Ma Temple (White Horse Temple) is one of the oldest and most revered Buddhist temples in Hanoi, located near the northern shore of Hoan Kiem Lake. Despite its modest size, the temple is steeped in legend and history, dating back to the 9th century. As you enter through the ornate gate, you'll find a serene courtyard with ancient trees and a small pond. The main hall houses a statue of the White Horse, which according to legend guided King Ly Thai To to choose the site for his capital. 历史一瞥

Built in the 9th century under the reign of King Ly Thai To, Bach Ma Temple is dedicated to the White Horse that guided the king to establish Thang Long (now Hanoi) as the capital. It is one of the 'Four Sacred Temples' of ancient Hanoi.
