Jogyesa

曹溪寺（Jogyesa Temple）是韩国最大佛教宗派曹溪宗的总本山。寺院创建于1910年，是韩国佛教的精神中心。寺院内一棵高耸的500年白松和一棵100年历史的皂荚树尤为引人注目。走进大雄殿内，游客可以看到三尊巨大的金色佛像。每逢佛诞节，寺院会挂满数千盏色彩缤纷的莲花灯。这座寺庙为身处闹市的人们提供了一处宁静的心灵栖息之所。

Getting there

行前须知

• The temple is located in Gyeonji-dong, Jongno District, in downtown Seoul, near Insa-dong and Gyeongbokgung Palace.
• Jogyesa participates in the Templestay program, where you can experience the life of Buddhist monks, eat Buddhist food, and learn about Korean Buddhism.
• The Buddha's Birthday festival (Yeondeunghoe) features lanterns hung from May 6 to 22, from 6 p.m. to midnight, with a Lotus Lantern Parade along Jongno Street.

历史一瞥

The temple was first established in 1395 at the dawn of the Joseon period. During Japanese colonial rule, it became a fortress of resistance against efforts to suppress Korean Buddhism. The modern temple was founded in 1910 as Gakhwangsa, renamed Taegosa in 1938, and then Jogyesa in 1954 when it became the main temple of the Jogye Order.
