Ho Quyen

Ho Quyen, also known as the Tiger Arena, is a fascinating historical site located in Hue, Vietnam. Built in 1830 under the Nguyen Dynasty, this circular arena was used for elephant-versus-tiger fights, a form of entertainment for the royal court and public. The structure is made of brick and stone, with high walls and a central pit where the animals battled. A bit of history

Built in 1830 by Emperor Minh Mang, Ho Quyen hosted elephant-tiger fights until 1904. The fights symbolized the power of the emperor over nature. The arena fell into disuse after the monarchy's decline and was later damaged during wars.
