The Cantonal Museum of Fine Arts (MCBA) is Lausanne's premier art museum, featuring an extensive collection that spans from the Renaissance to the present day. In 2019, the museum moved to a stunning new building in the Plateforme 10 arts district, designed by the architectural firm Barozzi Veiga. The light-filled galleries showcase works by Swiss and international artists, including pieces by Félix Vallotton, Ferdinand Hodler, and Alberto Giacometti, as well as contemporary installations. The museum's collection is particularly strong in 19th- and 20th-century Swiss art, but also includes significant works from other European schools. Visitors can enjoy rotating temporary exhibitions that explore specific themes or artists, often in collaboration with other institutions. The museum's location within the Plateforme 10 complex, which also houses the Museum of Contemporary Design and Applied Arts and the Museum of Photography, makes it a perfect destination for art lovers. The building itself is a masterpiece of modern architecture, with clean lines and ample natural light that enhance the viewing experience.
