The Fountain of the Idol is a unique Roman sanctuary carved directly into a granite outcrop in Braga. Dating from the 1st century AD, it features a central niche that once held a statue of a local god, surrounded by inscriptions and smaller niches for offerings. Visitors can see the carved basin where water once flowed and the detailed Latin inscriptions that name the deity and the dedicators. This well-preserved site offers a rare glimpse into the religious practices of Roman Bracara Augusta, blending natural rock with Roman engineering.
