The Arco da Porta Nova is a striking triumphal arch built in the 18th century on the site of a medieval city gate. Designed by architect André Soares, its ornate baroque-neoclassical facade features allegorical statues and the city's coat of arms. The arch served as the main western entrance to Braga until the walls were dismantled. Today, it stands as a photogenic landmark at the edge of the historic quarter, connecting the old town with the modern Campo das Hortas square. It's a popular meeting point and a reminder of Braga's fortified past.
