The Vans Agnew Monument stands on the site where British officers William Vans Agnew and Lieutenant Anderson were killed by rebellious Sikh troops in April 1848. This assassination was a catalyst for the Second Anglo-Sikh War. Today, the monument is a modest stone obelisk located in the old city, surrounded by bustling bazaars. Visitors come to reflect on the colonial history and the local resistance that shaped Multan's past.
