Harbor View Park (Yokohama)

Harbor View Park is a public park on the Bluff in Naka-ku, Yokohama, overlooking the Port of Yokohama. It features a rose garden, a large fountain, and several historic buildings, including the British House and the Kanagawa Museum of Modern Literature. The park is a popular tourist destination in the area.

• The park is across the street from Yokohama International School and near the historic Yokohama Foreign General Cemetery.

A bit of history

The site was the location of the British Consul's Residence soon after the Port of Yokohama opened for foreign trade in 1859. From 1862 to 1875, it also served as part of a British military garrison camp. The British Consul's Residence was rebuilt in 1937 and remained Crown Property until 1969, when it and the surrounding gardens were returned to the City of Yokohama and turned into a 72-hectare public park. The park's name comes from a popular song of the same name by Tatsumi Azuma.
