The Via Dolorosa, meaning 'Way of Sorrow,' is the traditional route in the Old City's Muslim Quarter that Jesus is believed to have walked from his condemnation to his crucifixion. Marked by 14 Stations of the Cross, the path winds from the Lions' Gate to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Pilgrims and visitors follow the route, often stopping at chapels and markers, especially on Fridays when processions reenact the journey.
