Daimiao Temple

Daimiao Temple, also known as the Dai Temple, is a sprawling complex located at the southern foot of Mount Tai in Tai'an. It serves as the primary temple for the worship of the God of Mount Tai, a key figure in Chinese folk religion. The temple dates back to the Qin and Han dynasties, with the current structures largely rebuilt during the Ming and Qing periods. Visitors enter through the grand Zhengyang Gate and explore a series of courtyards, halls, and pavilions. The main hall, Tiankuang Hall, is renowned for its massive mural depicting the God of Mount Tai's inspection tour. The temple grounds also feature ancient cypress trees, stone steles, and bronze artifacts. The complex is a UNESCO World Heritage Site as part of Mount Tai, offering a serene atmosphere and a deep dive into Chinese imperial and religious history.
