The Lieutenancy (La Lieutenance) is a distinctive structure that marks the entrance to the Vieux Bassin, Honfleur's old harbor. With its slate-covered turrets and half-timbered facade, it is one of the most photographed landmarks in the city. Originally built in the 16th century, it served as the residence of the King's Lieutenant, who oversaw the port and its defenses. Today, the building houses a small museum dedicated to Honfleur's maritime history. Visitors can walk under its archway to enter the harbor area, appreciating the blend of medieval and Renaissance architecture that characterizes the old town.
