Sentier des Douaniers

The Sentier des Douaniers, or Customs Officers' Path, is a breathtaking coastal hiking trail that winds along the cliffs between Cassis and the calanques. This historic route was once used by customs officers to patrol the coastline and prevent smuggling. Today, it offers hikers an unforgettable experience with panoramic views of the turquoise Mediterranean, rugged limestone cliffs, and hidden coves. The trail is part of the larger Calanques National Park and provides access to several calanques, including Port-Miou, Port-Pin, and En-Vau. The path is well-marked but can be rocky and uneven in sections, requiring sturdy footwear and a good fitness level. Along the way, you'll encounter fragrant scrubland, sea pines, and occasional viewpoints perfect for photos. The hike from Cassis to Calanque d'En-Vau and back takes about 3-4 hours, but you can also do shorter sections. The trail is most enjoyable in spring or autumn when the weather is mild and wildflowers bloom.
