Senate Square is Helsinki's principal historic square, a harmonious ensemble of neoclassical buildings designed by Carl Ludvig Engel. Dominated by the majestic Helsinki Cathedral, the square also features the Government Palace, the University of Helsinki main building, and the National Library.
