Abruka is a tranquil island in the Baltic Sea, part of a nature reserve protecting ancient deciduous forest and rich birdlife. A ferry from Roomassaare harbor takes visitors to this car-free haven, where walking trails lead through towering oaks and lindens. The island's southern tip hosts one of Estonia's largest colonies of cormorants and grey herons. A small museum in the former manor house tells the story of the island's seafaring and farming history. Seals often bask on the surrounding islets, visible from the shore.

Don't miss

  • Walk the forest trail through old-growth oak and linden trees
  • Observe thousands of cormorants and herons at the southern colony
  • Visit the Abruka Museum in the historic manor house
