The Shaanxi History Museum, located northwest of the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda in Xi'an, is one of China's first large state museums with modern facilities. It houses over 370,000 items, including murals, paintings, pottery, coins, and bronze, gold, and silver objects. The building's design recalls the architectural style of the Tang dynasty.

Shaanxi was the seat of more than 13 feudal dynasties, including the Zhou, Qin, Han, and Tang. The museum was constructed from 1983 and opened to the public on 20 June 1991. It collects over 370,000 relics unearthed in Shaanxi Province, including bronze wares, pottery figures, and Tang tomb murals.
