Little Hagia Sophia

Die Kleine Hagia Sophia, ursprünglich die Kirche der Heiligen Sergius und Bacchus, wurde im 6. Jahrhundert erbaut, einige Jahre vor der Hagia Sophia. Ihre zentrale Kuppel und der achteckige Grundriss beeinflussten die spätere byzantinische Architektur. Im 16. Jahrhundert in eine Moschee umgewandelt, bewahrt sie originale Marmorsäulen, Kapitelle und Mosaikfragmente. Der friedliche Innenraum mit der auf acht Pfeilern ruhenden Kuppel bietet einen Einblick in die frühbyzantinische Baukunst.
