Zhonghua Gate is the largest and most complex city gate ever built in China, forming part of the Ming dynasty Nanjing City Wall. It features a unique three-tiered structure with 27 hidden escape tunnels, multiple gate chambers, and a massive barbican system designed for defense. Visitors can walk along the top of the wall, explore the labyrinthine gate complex, and visit the museum inside that explains the history of the wall and gate. The site offers a fascinating glimpse into ancient military architecture.
