A bit of history
Built in 1907 from timber after the Trans-Siberian Railway's completion, it was expanded from 1923 to 1932, becoming the largest Orthodox church in the Far East. Closed during the Great Leap Forward and Cultural Revolution, it was used as a warehouse and hidden by surrounding buildings until designated a national cultural heritage site in 1996. Restoration in 1997, funded by donations, cleared the area and created Harbin Architecture Square.
