The Roman theatre of Philippopolis is one of the best-preserved ancient theatres in the world, built during the reign of Emperor Trajan in the 2nd century AD. Carved into the southern slope of Plovdiv's old town, it once held up to 7,000 spectators. Today, visitors can walk through the cavea (seating area) and stage, admiring the marble columns and intricate stonework. The theatre is still used for concerts, plays, and cultural events, offering a unique blend of ancient history and modern entertainment.
