The Bibi-Heybat Mosque is a significant Shiite Muslim place of worship located on the outskirts of Baku. Its most distinctive feature is the brilliant blue dome that dominates the skyline. The mosque was originally built in the 13th century but was destroyed in the 1930s and meticulously rebuilt in the 1990s. Visitors are struck by the intricate tilework and serene courtyard.
