Gò Găng Island is a 30 km² island in the Long Sơn commune, about 3 km southwest of Vũng Tàu city center. It borders rivers on three sides and the sea on another, with a landscape of forests, ponds, and lakes. The island is connected to Long Sơn Island by Chà Và Bridge and to Vũng Tàu City by Gò Găng Bridge on Trường Sa Street.

A bit of history

Historically, Gò Găng was a deserted island with minimal infrastructure, reachable only by boat and lacking municipal water or electricity. Bridge projects starting in 2005 spurred development, and wind power stations were introduced in September 2011. In 2020, provincial officials announced plans to make the island a centerpiece for a new sustainable economic zone, with 57% of the island zoned for urban construction including housing, shopping complexes, and a fishing center.
