The Hanoi Flagtower (Cột Cờ Hà Nội) stands as one of the few surviving structures from the Nguyen Dynasty's citadel, largely untouched by French colonial demolition. Rising 33 meters (plus a 21-meter flagpole), it dominates the grounds of the Vietnam Military History Museum. Visitors climb the 54 spiral steps to the top, where a large Vietnamese flag flutters against the sky. The platform provides sweeping views of the museum's courtyard, filled with war relics like tanks and aircraft, and the surrounding Ba Đình district. Its three-tiered base and octagonal tower reflect traditional Vietnamese architecture, while the flag itself, measuring 24 square meters, is a powerful national emblem. The site is particularly striking at sunset when the flag catches the golden light.
