Ho Chi Minh City Opera House, also known as the Municipal Theatre, is a graceful French colonial building from 1900 with ornate rococo details. Its facade features allegorical statues and a sweeping staircase. Inside, the auditorium boasts red velvet seats and a crystal chandelier. Today it hosts classical performances, ballet, and the popular AO Show, a contemporary Vietnamese performance combining bamboo circus, acrobatics, and dance.
