The Bitexco Financial Tower is Ho Chi Minh City's distinctive lotus-bud-shaped skyscraper, and for years its tallest, instantly recognisable for the helipad jutting out near the top like a clamshell. The Saigon Skydeck on the 49th floor gives a 360° view over the sprawling, motorbike-thronged city, the curves of the Saigon River, and out toward the horizon, the best way to grasp the sheer scale and energy of the metropolis from above.

While newer, taller towers (like the Landmark 81) now offer higher decks, Bitexco is central, iconic, and the easiest skyline overview in District 1. There's also a café and bar on upper floors where a drink can substitute for the Skydeck ticket. Go toward dusk to see the city by day and lit up at night.

Don't miss

  • The lotus-bud silhouette and clamshell helipad
  • The 49th-floor Saigon Skydeck 360° view
  • Views over the Saigon River and the vast city
  • Upper-floor café/bar as an alternative to the Skydeck
  • Sunset and night views over District 1

A bit of history

Completed in 2010 and designed by Carlos Zapata, the 262-metre tower's form was inspired by the lotus, Vietnam's national flower. It was the tallest building in Vietnam at completion and remains a symbol of Ho Chi Minh City's rapid modernisation.

What's the building shaped like?

A lotus bud, Vietnam's national flower, with a distinctive helipad protruding near the top like a clamshell.
