The Marble Mountains are a group of five hills named after the five elements: Kim (metal), Thuy (water), Moc (wood), Hoa (fire), and Tho (earth). Located about 9 kilometers south of Da Nang, these mountains are a popular destination for nature lovers and spiritual seekers. Visitors can explore numerous caves that were once used as hideouts during the Vietnam War, as well as tunnels and grottoes adorned with Buddhist shrines and statues. The largest hill, Thuy Son (Water Mountain), is the most accessible, with stone steps leading to a summit offering panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and the South China Sea. Along the way, you'll encounter the Linh Ung Pagoda (not to be confused with the one on Son Tra Peninsula) and the Tam Thai Pagoda, along with intricate carvings and sculptures. The mountains are also known for marble carving, with many workshops at the base selling stone products.

Don't miss

  • Climbing Thuy Son for cave exploration and summit views
  • Visiting the Am Phu Cave (Hell Cave) with its eerie atmosphere
  • Seeing the marble carving villages at the foot of the mountains
  • Exploring the Huyen Khong Cave, a massive cavern with natural skylight
  • Panoramic views of Da Nang and the coastline from the top
