Parque Rodó is Montevideo's largest green space, named after writer José Enrique Rodó. It features a large artificial lake where visitors can rent paddleboats, a small amusement park with a Ferris wheel and bumper cars, and the National Museum of Visual Arts, which houses an impressive collection of Uruguayan art. The park's wide lawns and shaded paths are ideal for picnics, jogging, or simply relaxing. On weekends, artisans set up stalls and street performers entertain crowds, giving it a festive vibe.

Don't miss

  • Paddleboat on the lake and feed the swans and ducks.
  • Explore the National Museum of Visual Arts (free entry) for works by Juan Manuel Blanes and Pedro Figari.
  • Ride the vintage carousel or Ferris wheel at the Parque de Diversiones.
