Mariinskiy-2, also known as the Mariinsky Theatre's second stage, is a contemporary architectural masterpiece situated on the Kryukov Canal. Opened in 2013, this venue complements the historic Mariinsky Theatre with its state-of-the-art facilities. The building's glass facade and soaring foyer create a striking contrast to the surrounding 19th-century architecture. Inside, the main auditorium seats over 1,800 and is renowned for its exceptional acoustics, designed by Yasuhisa Toyota. Visitors can enjoy opera, ballet, and classical concerts performed by the Mariinsky Orchestra under the direction of Valery Gergiev. The theater also hosts contemporary dance and experimental performances, making it a vibrant cultural hub.
